A night that makes hands tremble and hearts pound. Once a year the world stops to see the most beautiful women in the planet compete to be crowned in the one and only, Miss Universe!
Historically, the United States is the country to be crowned the most times with 8 total tiaras. The most recent one being in 2012 with gorgeous Olivia Culpo. Second place is our country, the best country and the country with the most beautiful women, Venezuela! With total 7 wins, including last year's with Maria Gabriela Isler.
This year, the 63rd annual pageant will be held at the Florida International University's (FIU) Arena in Miami, Florida, on January 25, 2015. Eighty-eight countries will participate, and only one will be the next beauty queen of the world.
Apart from the fame and renown, "the winner of the pageant will get to wear the new crown made by Diamonds International Corporation, a Czech based jeweller, the newest official jewelry maker of Miss Universe." Also, Miss Universe 2014 will have publicity campaigns will several companies, including make-up, clothing, and even travel and service around the world.
The judges will evaluate the participants in several categories, including the Gala runway, the question section, and the audiences' favorite, the swimsuit show.
As a Venezuelan woman, it was impossible for me not to log onto the Miss Universe website and jot down my favorite contestants. This year I will personally be rooting for Miss Argentina, Australia, Serbia, Brazil, and France. Nevertheless, my personal favorite is and will always be Miss Venezuela! Migbelis Castellanos, Miss Venezuela - Costa Oriental, will be representing us this year,
She is the daughter of a professional baseball player here in Venezuela. She grew up dreaming of being like her daddy, but ended up hitting home-runs in pageants and beauty shows. For more than 10 years she has been an active actress and model, including several local commercials and events. Also, Migbelis is studying political science in La Universidad del Zulia (LUZ) and at the same time mass communications in Universidad Rafael Belloso Chacin (URBE); the two most prestigious institutions in Maracaibo. I can almost assure you that she will be our next Miss Universe 2014! Fingers crossed for Venezuela.
