The Cure for Senioritis
“Oh my God. What is this assignment? Due dates are coming again! I can’t hold off this disease anymore, because I was already accepted to college. I am just going to slack off and not do anything for the rest of my Senior Year.”
If you are reading this, and feel that you are close to being what I just described, then chances are, you have senioritis. According to CollegeLife During the senior year, students tend to significantly drop grades, and basically they start to become lazy. There have been consequences for this if the students drop grades significantly. Colleges may put the senior on probation, or even worse they can withdraw admission.
Since hearing those horrible experiences, my ears started to bleed, but at the same time I came up with some tips to avoid senioritis, from the CollegeLife website.
Firstly, stay motivated and that is an indicator of how well your next year will be. For your next stage, motivation can lead you to a great first semester in college, and you can rock it during your first year. In addition, you have still AP classes to complete, meaning you can get college credit. Some of the students that passed all the AP courses during senior year have skipped many classes for the first semester and some of them actually SKIP the first semester of college. This is an advantage to take, because you can graduate earlier, and you are considered a higher level than most undergrads.
Although, these two past recommendations are important, the last one is the crucial and a pivotal one to combat senioritis. If you keep working hard enough during your last year, or even get higher grades than before-- colleges can look this up and actually give you a better scholarship offer. Some of them might consider you for honors, and you could enter a dream school if the grades are above your level. Working hard in this year might help you get into some of those universities.
Finally if you are a senior, get motivated and don’t let senioritis come into your life.
especially with the current situation here in Venezuela, where many people want to have a scholarship, so parents won't have to be paying tons of money for college.
