Ashifa Husna
This year is Ashifa’s last year before breaking free. She is looking forward to her last high school year to be full of fun and to be a part of a great senior class. Ashifa has lived in three different continents throughout her lifetime yet, she’s only 17- years old. She is the quietest of the bunch but when you get to know her, she’s very friendly and is willing to help anyone in need. Nevertheless, she loves writing and sharing her thoughts in words and so being a part of the journalism class this year is very exciting for her.
Pedro Rojas
Real Madrid for the win! Pedro is a sports addict; actually he's mostly into soccer, but he's an avid follower of the leagues. He talks about it often, heck, he even wears it. He's frequently seen wearing sports outfits to many places. Other than that, he can be hyperactive, and a clown, too. Luckily he doesn’t get in trouble too much. He speaks English and Spanish, is 16 years old, and loves to spend time with friends and make new ones, too.
In Journalism class, he does his part. Most of his written pieces are at least somewhat related to sports, but he can diversify as well. Although not always on time, his work is nevertheless turned in and bears his distinctive writing style. How is it special you might ask? You’ll have to read one his articles to find out. Pedro might just be that one mad guy who we need in class to have a little laughter. His work, although non-existent for half a month, resurfaces in the end and shines with a… peculiar light.

Andrea Rusic
Andrea is the introverted one of the bunch. She is normally quiet and when she speaks, it’s with a soft tone and low volume. Nevertheless, she is a kind, caring person willing to help out when the opportunity arises. Andrea is an artist; you can’t meet her without knowing that. She can employ a wide variety of mediums, but her specialty is digital art. She’s got experience at it and she draws for both school and as a hobby. It’s not uncommon to walk past her while she browses through an art sharing website, whether it be for getting inspiration, admiring others’ work, or meeting new people. She is 17 years old and speaks English and Spanish.
For Journalism, Andrea composes several articles every month. Her topics are random, perhaps because she’s not afraid of writing about whatever is thrown at her. Furthermore, Andrea has another, more unique contribution to the newspaper: the illustrations. Almost anything that looks drawn on the website is her work of art; she does it in less than a day and brings it to class for everyone to behold. The pictures add a lot of personality to just another web page.

Leonardo Mata
Being a hard worker is always a powerful characteristic in any person, this guy in the picture is just that, a natural hard worker. Whether it’s being at school or in any type of activity Leonardo Mata is simply a beast; any goal he sets for himself, he always completes. Luis Escala
All Luis wants is to be successful in life. People may think that he will not have a bright future, but he will because of all the will he has to become someone in life and everything he has learned from his mom. His mom is the owner of a petroleum company and all Luis wants is to take over the company and make it even better than how it is right now. He is a humble person and that’s what his mom has taught him. To be a bad student does not mean that he is not going to be someone in life. We can bet he will be a huge businessman.

Marcelo Pacheco
The words determination and hard worker are Marcelo’s strongest characteristics as both a person and an athlete. Being born in La Paz, Bolivia, showed him that while life as hard as it seems, shows us that giving up is never the answer. People recognize him for his soccer skills, but being talented is not easy. Hours of training and dedication put him in the place where he deserves to be: success.
Ms. Finnegan
Ms. Finnegan is one the sweetest teachers you can ever meet. Unlike some professors, particularly at the college level, she cares for her students and watches over them. If her nature could be described in one word it might just be... protector. Across her life she had always taught in the US, until she moved to Venezuela. That being said, she says she has been to all continents except Antarctica, so a world traveler she certainly is. Here at CIPLC, she takes care of the English courses at the high school level, and she knows her stuff. Word is she has hundreds of books under her belt, so literary knowledge isn’t lacking.
In class, she is the leader. As the teacher, Ms. Finnegan coordinates and oversees the process of making every issue for the Tuqueque Express. She is at the helm and makes sure everything gets done. She also likes to make sure everyone is working on something at all times, probably to boost productivity and prevent procrastination (the evil of all high school students). Ms. Finnegan’s daily work also consists of correcting every article the class writes, to avoid embarrassing spelling and grammar mistakes. Last, but certainly not least, she is always full of new ideas. The newspaper would be boring and repetitive if it wasn't for her creativity.
