We as humans tend to have this behavior of anticipating for an event to happen - simply by waiting for it to come to us. Other than that, “we can’t stop anticipation from happening.” According to an article about the “Psychology of Anticipation,” whether it’s an upcoming school event, or an exam, we have a tendency to “predict and prepare for these future events,” which our minds draw from past experiences. Since school is almost reaching its way to the end, we all should prepare ourselves and know the upcoming and exciting events that will occur in the next few months in CIPLC.
Two particular events that will happen at the same time on the week of February 3rd are Ed-Ventures and MUN which will be held in Boston, Massachusetts. Another event that will occur on January 29th is the Middle School Pops Concert, which will take place in the Band Room. At the same day, the art department is opening the “Faces of CIPLC” show. Similar to the widely known project called the “Humans of New York,” “Faces of CIPLC” will be held at the CIPLC library. The artwork from students in Pre-kindergarten all the way to 12th grade will be displayed. Other occurrences that will happen after the week of Ed-Ventures and MUN are the Q&U Wedding and the PTO Carnaval.
In addition, two more events will also occur in the first week of March; these include the HS Solo and Ensemble festival and a visitor named Sowah who will teach African drumming during the week of March 16th. Last but not least, the end-of-the-year event that would undoubtedly excites every CIPLC student and staff is the very well-known event called “International Day,” where a plenitude of various traditional foods and dances from different nations around the world will be exhibited during the event.
Indeed, we should all look at our calendars for the next few months to come and realize that there are numerous happenings in CIPLC to which we could expect to come. However, there are other “happenings” that would bring many students to dread and worry; such are the AP Exams, which will be administered over the first two weeks of May. But according to the article, by having something to look forward to, such as anything that brings contentment and excitement, those moments should definitely bring happiness into your life well before they actually take place and it doesn’t matter if you’re an optimist or a pessimist; our brains should all be wired to anticipate positive experiences.
